Odd place. Separate bathhouses for men and women, nudity required. Camping is available in glorified parking lot across the road overlooking the settlement pond.
No potable water, must drive a couple of miles for that. Really interesting salt flats area at the edge of town. In the last couple of years a pair of restaurants have opened. And breweries!
Some ATT cellphone reception but not great.
You never know how check-in will work out here. This time they are completely mellow, run my card, give me a pass and a parking tag and say "park anywhere you want on that side" - awesome!
It's very windy here ... it often is. The bbq place with wifi is closed for "staffing issues". Bummer. Won't be able to download yesterday's podcasts until at least Death Valley.
Saturday night of Thanksgiving weekend, and it's very uncrowded. So you just never know!
I had Section L to myself, that corner of the lot looking out over the pond.
New check-in guy with utterly different ideas about everything. Charged me for an RV site. It's only $4, so I didn't hassle him about it, but I am annoyed.
There's a new internet cafe 200 yards down the highway that will make life more civilized here.
This place is starting to get popular. Every time there are a few more rules. But every time I manage to have a pretty sweet stay notwithstanding. The place I used to park is now for big RVs, the good spots down in the trees are taken, but the cool stoner dude at check-in said it was OK to park right along the edge, so that's where I happily am, listening to the frogs bellow.
Just can't quit this place. This time it really is run by the county. Previously it was a management company who kinda sucked anyway. They apparently walked away from the deal. So right now camping is $10 and the tubs are free!
Stayed in the shade tonight.
visited on the long way back from San Diego on the way to Arizona. Very hot, very windy tonight. Day was awful, night is wonderful. Almost nobody here.
Perfect spring weather, not windy!
Stayed in the shade this time.
Exciting weather. Flash flood alerts coming in and going out, rained very hard tonight.
First time! Very strong winds, so I spent all the time I wasn't at the pools huddling in the camper shell.
