Shoulda gotten breakfast at the likely place in Bridgeport, woulda enjoyed the beautiful Mono Lake drive more. But coffee and pastry fixed everything! Eating Safeway well tonight.

Death Valley, Ash Meadows NWR
May is just plain hot in Death Valley. To kill the day then its too hot to do anything, I drove an extra 38-ish miles extra to finally see Ash Meadows NWR. Very interesting, too hot to enjoy it.

errands in Las Vegas, Hoover Dam
hit a good coffee wifi place and plan my Vegas run - find diesel, find my bank, find a Trader Joe’s! Spend the rest of the late afternoon at Hoover Dam and the new bridge. This campground is awesome!

too much boring driving
nice steak and eggs at the casino, then about 220 miles of uninterupted driving. Not my ideal road trip day. But really, there Is nothing of interest between HooverDam and Kingman then Kingman to Prescott.

up the canyon, coffee and breakfast in Flagstaff, then the Library to finish my work stuff and planning, then 140 miles of high desert and red rocks and white rocks

even more beautiful scenery
downhill out of the park, Navajo-ish lunch in Kayenta (mutton!), Monument Valley - crazy beautiful but not real user-friendly, Mexican Hat Lodge - a treasured place to me, Bluff UT, decaf+wifi in Cortez, then the stressful National Park check-in
short drive
pretty but uneventful, Mancos to Durango to Pagosa
soakin' all day
awake, 11 miles back, breakfast, sign in at Springs 1-ish, leave 11 that night - woo!
backtrack, up 550
left my glasses at Springs, so back, then Durango and north through Silverton and Ouray Springs to Orvis Hot Springs
boring western slope country
Orvis, breakfast in Ridgway, Montrose, Delta, Grand Junction to my Colorado River CG on a dark and stormy night!
Moab is a trip
BLM rocks! This campground is really handy for Canyonlands. I love Island In The Sky.
crazy rocks and Cap Reef fail
didn’t have a good Green River experience, still like the place I stayed in Hanksville, Capit Reef is always full, too early for Sunglow, a shower and the hot tubs!
long but mellow
really nice 11-ish soak at the pool and four different tubs!, Big Al’s Deli, then some Nevada-sized drivin’
long but tiring
did a 3-ish mile hike in the morning, kinda tired me out for all that driving. Two hours to Ely, eat and caffienate, then two more hours to Hickison. don’t like that much driving
Austin, more US 50, home!
I started way earlier, 11:30 from Austin, so I was home be 2:30, but it’s just a long haul no matter how you slice it.
