on the Intracoastal Waterway. The campground fills early with fishermen, but there is overflow camping a little inland, hence the $3!
funky, but very convenient, probably awesome on a pretty day. Sadly it was gloomy and windy when I was there. good windsurfing I'll bet!
At the mouth of the John Day River. Mostly families with big boats and big RVs. Like Army Corps campgrounds in general, it's a highly controlled place. I-84 is 1/3 mile away and it is line of sight with nothing but water between it and you, so it's pretty noisy. Quite pretty though, looking right out on the bay ... between the parallel parked big rigs and all their big toys.
expensive but deluxe, with hookups. very nice hike over to the wildlife preserve, near downtown
Epically deluxe RV park: pool, hot tubs, beach, playgrounds. In the middle of San Diego, two miles from Pacific Beach ocean beach, four miles from Balboa Park.
Bike one way to a lovely lagoon, walk the other way to to beach, nice sites high on the bluffs. A really nice campground.
