What a cool discovery! You leave Route 160 just a little north of the bridge that takes you to Pittsburg/ Antioch and take a bumpy little road along the edge of Sherman Island.
The road follows the southern side of the Sacramento River to the tip of the island, where there is a nice county park for the windsurfers. It's roughly where the Sac River meets the San Joaquin River, and it is a great windsurfing spot.
Verizon cellphone reception was good.
Very handy spot for when I have business in South Bay or lower East Bay ... which I rarely do.
The price has more than doubled since five years ago. But it's so convenient to East Bay; the first cool place you get to after escaping freeway hell, and it's really cool once you bump all the way down the road to get here.
All that extra revenue from the price increase let them add a kiosk that takes credit cards, and it actually worked very well!
