On the edge of downtown Eureka.
Across the street from the wonderful Humboldt County Library, in sight of the famous Carson Mansion, 200 yards from the Donut Mill (eek!). A rambling, beautiful old house. Wood-paneled dining room, high ceilings, old-school push button light switches.
Kinda sketchy neighborhood though. The sidewalks look good in the daytime, but after dark they're owned by Eureka's uniquely aggro and insane-ish street people.
Lovely two night stay in Eureka.
AA Bar to watch the Niners on Sunday morning, Humboldt Bay Bistro and a great harbor walk in the afternoon.
It's cool to stay a full day somewhere.
Gone for a day, now I'm back for a day.
Amazingly both days I came straight here from having two beers at Dave's Bar, because there was a Warriors preseason games on TV.
A user-friendly town when you know your way around a little.
I am still following my plan to stay out of Reno until the air gets better.
It's very nice here.
This time I actually stayed inside, posting up on the plush, oversized red sofa in the living room.
