Drive I-80 on a sunny day. Destination other grandparents house in San Rafael
Still lotsa snow up there. I stopped for a full meal and the diner on Colfax. Got to the birthday party a little after 5, just in time for ice cream and cake!
Sunday paper search in San Rafael. Drive to Petaluma.
Walked to the Safeway. Drove the neighborhood looking for a Sunday paper. Then onward to Petaluma

Freakout day, tented house
Next door is tented for fumigation. Martha unhappy.

Cleaners come today. I take the kiddies on a field trip!
Leave, Ocean Cove
Wrap it up in Petaluma, head west to the coast.
Gualala, luck out at Russian Gulch
Fantastically good luck to score a state park campsite on Saturday night without a reservation.
Motel 6 - meh
Good ole Headlands Cafe, and the lovely and scenic bluffs hike north of the Trestles
Rain! Longer drive than I planned.
It was raining all the way to Willits. I thought I’d camp tonight somewhere around greater Willits, but now Ima keep heading east to the Central Valley.
Explore the valley west of I-5 a little more.
Head west from Maxwell and follow road north for 70 miles or so.
Head northeast through backcountry around Manton.
Crappy meal in Red Bluff. My campground was closed. The day didn’t work out that great.
Haven’t done this familiar route home for years.
JJ’s Diner is still awesome.
